Capel Celyn, Wales & Mologa, Russia

I’ve been keeping track of these drowned towns. There are several in Scotland too, when those that command decided that HEP (Hydro Electric Power) was the way forward. Oh, really?

I wrote about Mologa on the 16th of January 2019 : DROWNED HISTORY. WHAT IS UNDER THE RYBINSK RESERVOIR?

Imagine waking up one day and finding out, via your local paper, that your entire town/village is about to be annihilated. To make way for a resevoir.

OMG. Wales is on a par with Ireland for the amount of rainfall they have. WHY demolish hundreds of years of history just to make a big lake?

Water Butts, springs and rivers have served communities for the majority of history. My Nan always washed my hair with rainwater.

P.S. There is an entire Lovejoy episode about a village on the East Coast of England that as reclaimed by the sea centuries before.

Capel Celyn – 1955.
